What Is Entertaiment?
Article
Entertaiment has come to mean amusement, but many entertainments have a deeper purpose – promoting learning or social interaction, for example through ceremonies, religious festivals or satire. Children’s play, for example, develops motor skills; prepares them for adult responsibilities, such as child rearing and social interaction through dolls and group games; or develops cognitive abilities, such as storytelling. Stories such as Scheherazade from the Persian professional storytelling tradition have inspired countless composers, film directors and innovative video games.
