What is Entertaiment?

Entertaiment is a broad term for anything that entertains an audience and can range from an individual playing a game of solitaire on their computer to a banquet arranged for two people, to a performance intended for thousands. The etymology of the word is instructive: it derives from a combination of “enter” and “tein,” meaning grasping in between or inside. Entertainment is often successful in that it strikes on themes the human brain was shaped to react deeply to in order to survive in a social world.
